The under-an-hour checklist for a pet odor page that holiday hosts actually call from

Before guests arrive, people search for pet odor removal, not carpet cleaning. A checklist to build the one service page that answers them in under an hour.

In November a lot of your calls start with the same sentence: "We have family coming and the living room smells like the dog." That person did not search "carpet cleaning." She searched "pet urine smell carpet" or "remove dog odor from rug," and she landed on whoever had a page about exactly that.

If your website has one services page that lists pet treatment as a bullet, you are not that page. Here is a checklist to build a dedicated pet odor page in under an hour, before the holiday searches peak.

Before you start (5 minutes)

  • Open your website editor and create a new page. Name it "Pet Odor and Urine Removal" or something close to what people type.
  • Set the address to something plain, like /pet-odor-removal/.
  • Grab three photos from your phone: a UV light shot of urine spots, a pad or subfloor treatment, and a finished room. Real photos from your own jobs beat stock every time.

The top of the page (10 minutes)

  • Headline that matches the search. "Pet urine and odor removal in [your city]." Not "Restore your home's freshness."
  • One sentence on what you do differently. For example: "We find every spot with a UV light, treat the pad underneath, and tell you up front if a spot cannot be saved."
  • A price range. Pet treatment is the question everyone asks and few sites answer. Something like "Pet odor treatment usually adds $40 to $90 per room on top of cleaning, depending on how deep it goes." Use your own numbers. Our pricing guide covers how to show ranges without getting shopped.
  • A tap-to-call button and a text button right under it. On a phone, this is the whole page for most visitors.

The middle (15 minutes)

  • How it works, in three steps. Find the spots, treat the backing and pad, clean and deodorize the surface. Two sentences each.
  • What to expect honestly. Say plainly that old urine that has soaked into the subfloor may need more than one treatment, and that you will say so before you charge. That sentence builds more trust than any guarantee.
  • Drying time. "Carpets are usually dry in 4 to 8 hours" or whatever is true for your method. Holiday hosts care about this because the guests arrive Thursday.
  • Pet safety. One line on whether your products are safe for pets once dry. People ask.
  • The three photos, with short captions that say what is happening.

The questions people ask (10 minutes)

Add four short questions and answers. Use the exact questions your office hears. For example:

  • "Will the smell come back?"
  • "Can you get out old stains, or only new ones?"
  • "Do I need to move furniture?"
  • "How soon before guests can walk on it?"

Two or three sentences per answer. These help with AI answers too. Our AI search guide explains why plain questions and answers get quoted.

The bottom (5 minutes)

  • A holiday booking line. "Booking for Thanksgiving week fills up by early November. Text us your address and room count for a quote."
  • One or two real reviews that mention pets, pasted as text with the first name and town.
  • The phone number again.

Connect it (10 minutes)

  • Link to the new page from your home page and from your main services page.
  • Add the service to your Google Business Profile. Under Services, add "Pet odor removal" with a short description. Then add a Google post with one of the photos and a link to the page. The Google profile guide shows where both live.
  • Check it on your phone. Tap the call button. Tap the text button. Make sure both go somewhere a person will see within minutes.

That last step matters most. In our data, 50% of carpet cleaners list no hours on Google and 30.4% have no website at all. A clear page with a working call button already puts you ahead of a big part of the market. Losing the call because you were holding a wand is the fastest way to give that advantage back. The missed calls guide covers a text-back, and the calculator shows what a few missed calls a week cost at your ticket size.

What not to do

  • Do not promise the smell will be gone forever. You cannot see the subfloor until you are there.
  • Do not copy a competitor's page. Write it in your own words about your own process.
  • Do not bury the price range. A range is better than "call for a quote."

After it is live

Watch two things for the next three weeks. First, ask every caller how they found you, and note when someone says the pet page or a search for odor. Second, ask every pet job for a review that mentions the dog or cat. Reviews that name the problem help the page and your profile at the same time.

If you would like the page written and the missed-call text-back set up for you, the free 14-day trial covers any one service, no card. Text or call (801) 618-3099.
